A New Spin on Creating Community

Storytelling is an important element of society; online or otherwise. I am more than proud to consider myself a storyteller.

In 7th grade, Ms. Kelts told me NOT to be a journalist. I’ve been writing ever since.

I was a terrible student in middle school. I had either a “D” or and “F” in every class; even gym! As a Black pre-teen living in a demonstratively suburban county that was (and still is) predominantly White, it was more important to find my identity than to make the honor role. (Fun fact, I DID make the honor role for 2 quarters the following school year.)

I took into consideration that she knew more about me than I did.

But the one thing I liked to do was write. I used to write about history, historical fiction, and news stories. In middle school, I even worked with a couple of my cousins to create a comic book. But after that conversation with Ms. Kelts, the spark was gone. I took into consideration that she knew more about me than I did. I also took into consideration that she knew the industry a lot better than I did. Therefore, I moved on to something else for my potential grown-up job.

One day in my adult life, I decided to resurrect my love of writing. I’m not sure when, but I think it was from a dream I had. (Add link to book ideas page). Nevertheless, here I am. And God willing, I will complete my 5 books before I close my eyes for the very last time. I hope you enjoy AT LEAST one of them!

There’s a lot more to Ralph than meets the eye.

A vocalist??

Barely. But at some point, there will be an EP celebrating the Xth year of existence for my company. 2024 is the company’s 10th year; we will see if the celebratory, anniversary EP will happen. If it does, I will be on the mic. **gulp**

Community Leadership

My mother instilled me to always give back because I’m definitely more blessed than many others. We did it as a family by feeding the homeless men at the Mitch Snyder Center.

Still growing as a Renaissance Man.

My 1st form of community leadership without supervision was as a basketball coach for the Northern Virginian Seventh Day Adventist Youth Basketball League. The next venture was in Baltimore with the formation of the Blueprints for Youth non-profit. That was a mentoring project for Black youth in Baltimore. The next venture was as the president of the East Arlington/Ashburton. 3 years later, I was elected the president of the Greater Northwest Council of Neighborhood Presidents. When I moved from Baltimore to DC, I was appointed the president of my Condominium Owners Association.

As far as Kappa Alpha Psi is concerned, I was initiated into the Bond on March 12, 2009 in the Eastern Province as a Hyattsville/Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter initiate. I began my Kappa career as the chapter’s Assistant Keeper of Records under the tutelage of the late, great Michael Greene. In 2012, I was elected Eastern Province Historian. I ended my term in 2016. I slowly matriculated to the Baltimore (MD) Alumni Chapter where I served as the Vice President of Marketing for the Metropolitan Baltimore Foundation of Kappa Alpha Psi for 2 years. I also served (and still do) on the Technology Committee. In 2017, I moved to Washington, DC where I joined Washington (DC) Alumni Chapter where I have been elected chapter Reporter.

Whew! I’ve been busy!
